If you’re having an aisle runner, it’s tradition that the aisle runner be kept pristine for the bridal party. You have two options to do this. The first option is to have the ushers unroll the aisle runner after the mother of the bride is seated. If you choose this option, have the ushers practice at the rehearsal. Even with practice this can be difficult and there is usually lumps and bumps in the runner. The second option {and in my opinion a better option} is to have the aisle runner laid out and tacked down before guests start arriving. Have a ribbon tied across the aisle and have ushers escort guests down the sides of the aisle instead.
