Tip of the Day – Honeymoon Outfit
July 10th, 2009
Fashion Friday: Honeymoon Outfit
I got an outfit request from a reader. She was looking for an outfit for her honeymoon in Punta Cana, DR in the spring. She said that she is pear shaped, big busted, and tall with brown hair. I choose the dress first. This type of dress is good for someone with a pear shaped body, because it hides the problem area. Also, the top of the dress will give a woman with a big bust enough coverage. I hope this helps! Another great resource is the Honeymoon Style Guide: 10 Outfits under $100.
Tip: If you’re going on your honeymoon next spring or summer, go shopping this August for amazing deals on bathing suits, tank tops, shorts, and more. If you wait until the beginning to next spring or summer, everything will be full price.
Dress: Victoria’s Secret $55.00

Honeymoon in the Florida Keys, Part I

Photograph by Monica R.
Want to get out of the cold for your honeymoon? The Florida Keys, a 110 mile chain of islands, could be the perfect romantic getaway if you’re looking to stay within the United States. If you’re an adventurous couple that wants a place to go diving or snorkeling, you should know that the Florida Keys are home to the third largest coral reef in the world.
The islands include Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Big Pine and the Lower Keys, and Key West. There are small airports located in Key West and Marathon. Or you could always fly into Miami and rent a car to drive. Spending a night or two in sexy Miami could start your honeymoon the right way.
Key Largo: If you drive from Miami, first you’ll hit the diving capital of the world, Key Largo. You can find 500 species of fish and 55 types of coral. One of the most interesting places in Key Largo is the Jules Vern Undersea Hotel, which is the world’s only underwater hotel. You have to dive 21 feet under the ocean to enter.
Other places to visit in Key Largo:
Alabama Jack’s (Restaurant): Cuisine is American seafood. Voted best conk fritters in the Keys. Open daily from 11am-7pm. Located at 58000 Card Sound Rd, Key Largo, FL 33037.
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park: Camping, fishing, swimming, and picnicking. Go on snorkeling and scuba tours.
Christ of the Deep Statue: Located in the Key Largo Dry Rocks section of the barrier reef. It’s a popular nine foot tall statue sitting on the ocean floor.
Dolphins Plus: Swim with Dolphins.
Islamorada: Do you want a laid back atmosphere where you can find great fishing by day and drinking and dining by night? Check this village out. Islamorada is known as the Sportsfishing Capital of the World and holds more sportsfishing world records than anywhere in the world.
Places to visit in Islamorada:
History of Diving Museum: Divers and snorkelers should stop by this museum that opened in June of 2006.
Treasure Village: Twelve shops located in a historic castle. You can find art, baked goods, candles, clothes, skin care items and gifts in these shops. Don’t forget to take a picture in front of the HUGE lobster outside of Treasure Village.
Morada Beach Café and Bar: Sit outside this Mediterranean bistro cafe and enjoy your meal or drinks on the beach. They provide live entertainment that you can take pleasure in while watching the sunset. The bar is open seven days a week until 11:30! Grab a pineapple mojito and relax with your new husband.
Cheeca Lodge and Spa: Provides tennis, golf, swimming pools, fitness studio, beaches, and a spa.
Nauti-Limo: This is a limousine on the water that can carry one to six passengers. Sunset cruises and wedding packages are available.
