Real Wedding – Leigh Ann and Chris

I’m loving the third Alabama wedding of the week. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the photography by Claire Drummond is amazing. The couple, Leigh Ann and Chris, got married at The Beach Club in Fort Morgan. I hope you enjoy these captivating pictures as much as I did.

Thank you to Claire for answering our questions, so we could get to know you a little better:

When did you shoot your first wedding?  My first wedding was in the summer of 2005.  A former co-worker had a friend who was getting married, and couldn’t afford a “real” wedding photographer.  At this point I had only been shooting children and families, and I was crazy scared that I would miss some important part of the couple’s big day.  I made sure she realized I had never done a wedding before and she still wanted me.  Lucky me, because I discovered that weddings were where I wanted to be!

How many weddings do you shoot a year?  Around 20.  It’s important to me to not become so busy that I have no time for my family.

What does a typical package include and cost?  My most popular package is one that includes a custom monogram, an engagement session, and an 8-hour wedding day for $1600.  All of my packages come with shared copyright and full printing rights to all images.

Can you tell me about one of your favorite wedding location to shoot?  I think Jasmine Hills Gardens (http://www.jasminehill.org/) in Wetumpka is my favorite wedding location.  It’s absolutely gorgeous, and there are so many different places to shoot there that give completely different looks.  I also really love Fountainview Mansion in Auburn.

I want to give a big thank you to Leigh Ann and Chris for sharing their special day with us and to Claire Drummond for these charming pictures. Check out Claire’s website and blog to see more of her inspiring photography.

Real Wedding – Amber and Kyle

Lisette was a kind enough to take a few minutes to answer these questions, so we could get to know her a little better:

When did you shoot your first wedding?

I have been shooting professionally since October 2007. I second shot weddings for about 5 months prior to shooting one solo. I felt it was extremely important to learn all I could before jumping in head first on my own!

How many weddings do you shoot a year?

I am into my second official year in business and I have 15 weddings on the calendar thus far. I have been blessed with amazing clients! I also love to second shoot with friends any time I get the chance.

What does a typical package include and cost?

Wedding collections start at $2500 and include 6 hours of coverage, a high-resolution disk of the images, online proofing, and a slideshow. Wedding collections with an album start at $4000.

Can you tell me about one of your favorite wedding locations to shoot?

I do not have one location that I prefer over another. However I absolutely adore outdoor evening ceremonies. When it is just a few hours prior to sunset, the light is gorgeous!

Thanks to Amber and Kyle for sharing your special day with us and to the extremely talented Lisette for sending us the pictures of this fantastic celebration! Check out her website and blog for more inspiring pictures.

Real Wedding: Ashlyn and Tyler

I’m so excited to share the first real Alabama wedding of this week! This couple is adorable and their incredibly talented wedding photographer, Jessica Messer, did an amazing job. Check out her website and her blog to see more pictures from weddings she has shot.

Ashlyn & Tyler were married on August 8, 2008 at Mt. Laurel’s Bryson Square with their reception at the TownHouse at Mt. Laurel.

I asked Jessica a few questions, so you could get to know her a little better. She was gracious enough to spend some time to answer. Here’s a peak into Jessica’s photography business:

When did you shoot your first wedding? I photographed my very first wedding in 2001 completely by accident. I’d never even considered wedding photography as a career… or a hobby. I had taken a photography course while enrolled at the University of Montevallo and a man saw one of my class photos and asked me to be his wedding photographer. I answered with a big fat “no” because I was not prepared for the responsibility of photographing such a huge event in someone’s life. But he was very persistent, so we agreed that he’d hire a “real pro” and have me come along for fun shots. It was great. I really loved the whole process so much I decided to start my wedding photography business.

How many weddings do you shoot a year? I feel that it is really important to be able to provide my clients with a certain level of customer service, so I limit my commissions to 25 weddings per year.

Can you tell me about one of your favorite wedding locations to shoot? Recently, I’ve had several at-home weddings and they are quickly becoming my new favorite. Imagine getting dressed in the same bedroom where years ago, you dreamed of being a bride or having your portrait made on the porch swing where your daddy used to sit with you on warm summer days. These weddings are always so touching and full of genuine emotion. And, since you won’t be spending as much money on venue fees, you can really go over the top with the decorations and details.

I want to give a big thanks to Ashlyn and Tyler for allowing us to have a little window in your perfect day and of course, to Jessica for making our hearts skip a beat with these gorgeous pictures!
